Narsimha :
The Threshold of Fury

An outdoor theatrical experience With Projection Mapping | Fall 2025 & Winter 2026

Numerous mythic stories persist in traditional forms such as puppetry, folk arts, paintings, scriptures, and ancient languages, yet these remain largely unexplored and inaccessible. This thesis examines how lesser-known mythological narratives, particularly those inspired by the ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu with an emphasis on the Narsimha Avatar, may be reimagined and reintroduced to transcend cultural boundaries while preserving their inherent meaning and wisdom. The study investigates the potential of theatre to serve as a universal platform for these stories. It proposes a contemporary production, supported by modern technology and a combination of virtual and physical environments. The objective is to develop a touring theatre production that appeals to diverse audiences, fosters emotional engagement, qwareness, and revitalises appreciation for mythic heritage.

Spatial composition articulates themes of emptiness, disconnection, and emotional rigidity associated with Hiranyakashyap’s internal state. The disintegration of Hiranya’s world is expressed through the gradual deterioration of the surrounding space. The narrative begins in a pristine white setting symbolizing order and perceived divinity, but culminates in dark, fractured stone ruins.
